Heath Elementary PTSO
Nov. 10 2009 Monthly Meeting

The regular monthly meeting of the HES PTSO was called to order by Jennifer Howle, PTSO President at 6:00pm with 11 members present.  Jennifer welcomed everyone and thanked them for coming. A motion was made to dismiss with the reading of the minutes.   A motion was made by Jennifer Howle and seconded by Judy Allen.  Motion passed.

Treasurer’s report was given by Shantona Doublin.  (Treasurer’s Report attached)  A motion to accept the report was made by Kristy Johnson and seconded by Lisa Ray.  Motion passed.

Jennifer stated that the Fall Festival brought in a profit of $10,082.81 this year.  There were more costs this year for the Fall Festival.  Raffle tickets and armband sales were down.  We want to cut out the expense of the “baskets” to hold items next year.  Our teacher silent auctions went well but we need to get more information out next time. This spring, we hope to have a Spring Carnival with several outside games and inflatables.  We would like for businesses to donate money for the inflatables.  We want to do another teacher auction with more promotion. Thank you so much for all who donated their time and efforts for the Fall Festival!  We couldn’t have done it without you!

Next item of business on the agenda is about the Pirate Running Booster club.  They have asked that we contribute $200 to match CES to help pay Raye Ann Ragland.  Jennifer brought a motion to match CES and pay $200 for the coach.  A discussion took place as to why a stipend had been granted to pay Ms. Ragland like any other coach.  Jennifer had also asked why a stipend had not been granted.  She will address the Board Members to see why this had not been taken care of again this school year.  HES has only 4 students on the Running Team and CES has 31 students for a total of 35 runners.  After much discussion, a motion by Jennifer Howle was made to only pay $50 to Ms. Ragland due to the small number of HES students participating.  Karen Turner seconded the motion.  Motion passed.  A letter will mailed to Kelly Hudspeth, parent representative, explaining the change in payment this year.  Several parents expressed interest in this activity and hoped that it would be promoted more next year.

Our Veteran’s program was wonderful again this year.  There were many in attentandce.  Second and Third grade will be attending the parade on Wed.Nov. 12.

Academic Meet - Nov. 17

Blood Drive - Nov. 19

HESGavin’s Gift t-shirts will be on sale until Friday, Nov. 13.We will begin our T-shirt fundraiser next week.  The shirts will be on sale along with several school spirit items from Jada Creations. We received a thank you note from Estate Edging regarding the work they did on the landscaping. Karen Turner’s class wrote thank you notes for the Boxtop pizza party and won again this month.  Stephanie Laird thanked the PTSO for purchasing the radios, because they were a life-saver during the power outage.

Jennifer Howle reported that we would not longer participate in the Fazolio’s fundraiser.  We made a profit of $150 thus far, but it has been a difficult to get our percentage. Next year, we will not participate in Catalog Sales.  There are just too many things going on at the beginning to the school year.

Applebee’s will be feeding all veterans free tomorrow! Door Prizes went to Lisa Ray, Stephanie Laird, and Jan Hylko. A motion was made by Judy Allen to dismiss and seconded by Kristy Johnson.  Meeting Dismissed.

Respectfully Submitted,Wesley Noles, PTSO Secretary
